Anyone willing to invest a few thousand dollars in a state-of-the-art laptop shouldn't skimp on portable protection for it. Having the right laptop case can make all the difference when sprinting through an airport or just wandering from coffee shop to coffee shop, looking for free Wi-Fi.
These bags represent some of our recent favorites, from sleek urban saddlebags, to backpacks, to cases with high-tensile, stainless-steel wire built into the straps, the better to deter blade-wielding thieves.

While the green canvas military look of Solo's new Urban Vertical Messenger laptop case isn't as high-tech as other cases we've looked at, the company has somehow managed to find just the right mix of pockets, padding, and ergonomic design, making this $79 case our current favorite.

It makes sense that a bag containing your valuable laptop--and potentially even more valuable data--should have some fairly reasonable security of its own. That's the mentality behind the Pacsafe line of cases, which all incorporate various security features, from slashproof shoulder straps to tamperproof zippers.

Solo Smart Strap Laptop Case
The retractable shoulder strap is such an ingenious concept, we're surprised it isn't standard equipment on every laptop bag. Put the bag over your shoulder and the strap automatically deploys to a comfortable length--pure genius.

Kensington Contour Cargo Messenger
The green, vaguely bike-messenger-esque look may not appeal to everyone, but if you can get past the earth tones, the smartly placed pockets and the wide, extra-padded strap will seal the deal.
